Combined configuration with WinCC (TIA Portal) and STEP 7 V5.x

  • Entry
  • Associated product(s)
By means of the “device proxy PLC”, you can directly access the SIMATIC controllers configured in the SIMATIC Manager and their current data such as symbols, data blocks and the alarm procedures “Alarm_S”, “Alarm_D” and “SFM”. Further on, GSDML files are available for download for the “Direct button” function.

Introduction
The TIA Portal offers the option to create the PLC programs and HMI configurations via a uniform software interface.
In some cases it is necessary, due to technical or customer-specific reasons, to continue creating the PLC program with the “STEP 7 V5.x” software and the HMI configuration with the “WinCC (TIA Portal)” software.

Task
If tags are newly created or processed in the STEP 7 program for the data exchange for the HMI operator panel, these changes should also be made in the HMI project without great effort. In order to avoid address and spelling mistakes, no manual adjustment of the address or tag name should be made in the HMI project.

Through the “Device Proxy PLC” you can directly access the SIMATIC controllers configured in the SIMATIC Manager and their current data such as symbolism, data blocks and the alarm procedure “Alarm_S”, “Alarm_D” and “SFM”.

Solution
There are several options to implement the task.

  • The “Device Proxy PLC” enables directly accessing the SIMATIC controllers and their current data such as symbols, data blocks and the “Alarm_S”, “Alarm_D” and “SFM” alarm procedure in the SIMATIC Manager and integrating it into WinCC (TIA Portal).
The handling can be compared with a WinCC flexible project integrated in the SIMATIC Manager.
  • TagConverter
  • Source export/source import
  • Project migration

The application describes the presented suggested solutions step by step.

Documentation
The documentation includes a description for using a “Device proxy PLC” as of WinCC V13 (TIA Portal)

GSD/GSDML files for Comfort Panel and Mobile Panel (2nd generation)
For using the “Device proxy PLC”, the GSD / GSDML files are used in connection with the “Direct button” function in WinCC (TIA Portal). Please observe that the files depend on the version used.

Note
If you are using the PROFIenergy block "PE_START_END" in WinCC V14, you have to add “1” to the diagnostics address given in the hardware configuration at the "PE_START_END":

Example:
Hardware configuration: Start address 8185
Block "PE_START_END": ID 8186

As of WinCC V14 SP1, you do not have to observe the note anymore.

WinAC RTX (F) (STEP 7 V5.x) with WinCC Runtime (TIA Portal) on a PC Station
Apart from the pure hardware controllers the WinAC RTX (F) software controller can also be configured in STEP 7 V5.x and be operated using WinCC Runtime Advanced or WinCC Runtime Professional.

WinAC RTX (F) as well as WinCC Runtime (TIA Portal) can be located on the same PC station. The following documentation shows you how to operate WinAC RTX (F) from STEP 7 V5.x and WinCC Runtime from the TIA Portal on a PC Station.
