Connectors for SIMOTICS S-1FK7 changed over to SPEED-CONNECT (compatible with the previous solution)

Standardization of SIMOTICS S-1FK7 motor connectors

Effective immediately, 1FK7 Generation 1 motors will be equipped with the new SPEED-CONNECT connectors. (Both power and signal connectors without DRIVE-CLiQ). Up until now, this connector was only used for 1FT7 and 1FK7 Generation 2 motors.

The new connector is fully compatible with the previous cables with conventional screw locking system. SPEED-CONNECT cables can also be used in the future.

New motor connector for 1FK7 G1
(this is already being used for 1FT7 and 1FK7 G2)

Previous motor connector for 1FK7 G1
(1FK7xxx-5 and 1FK7xxx-7 up to approx. 09/2012)

Connectors with conventional screw lock

Highlights

  • SPEED-CONNECT cables can now be used for 1FT7*, 1FK7 G2 and 1FK7 G1
  • Fail-safe installation thanks to the defined, locked position
  • Approx. 1/4 clockwise rotation and the plug connection is locked!
  • Approx. 1/4 counter-clockwise rotation, and the plug connection is released!
  • Lower installation costs as a result of the fast locking

* Force-ventilated and water-cooled 1FT7 motors with high standstill currents as well as partly self-cooled 1FT7 motors in shaft height 132 are provided with size 3 power connectors with full thread.

Compatibility:

The new connector is fully compatible with the previous cables with conventional screw locking system.

SPEED-CONNECT cables can now also be used for 1FK7 Generation 1.

NOTICE:

SPEED-CONNECT connecting cables cannot be used with the old motor connector version (1FK7 Generation 1 before January/2013).

Combination possibilities and connector profile:

Old version up to approx. December/2012:
Up until now, only the conventional connecting cable with screw thread could be used for 1FK7 G1
Actual version, from January/2013:
Using SPEED-CONNECT connecting cables
Actual version, from January/2013:
Using a conventional connecting cable.
When using a conventional cable with screw locking system and the new connector, as a result of the design, a visible gap remains. This gap has no influence on the function of the connector and its sealing.

Establishing a contact with the new SPEED-CONNECT cable:

  • Alignment of the two arrows from motor and connector
  • Attaching the connector
  • 1/4 clockwise rotation

Thus, the connector is already securely fixed.
