SIMOTICS: Subsequently install brake in motors for Motion Control

Summary
The retrofiting of MC motors without brake to motors with brake is uneconomic.

Question
How can a brake be subsequently installed on a motor without brake?

Answer
In general, a brake can be installed, which, however, entails large expenditure.
The following are required:  

  • New rotor

  • New bearing shield

  • Brake

  • New ball bearing

That means, in many cases retrofitting is uneconomic.
