Configuration Notes:
The table below describes some examples and provides notes on connecting the PC Adapter and the TS Adapter.

  1. TS Adapter for Direct mode
  2. Connecting the PC Adapter to the RS232 interface
  3. Connecting the PC Adapter to the USB interface
  4. TeleService cannot be used via a dedicated line
  5. Setting up a connection via TeleService to the operator panel with ProSave
No. Examples and notes on connecting the PC Adapter and the TS Adapter:
1 TS Adapter for Direct mode
For direct mode you connect the TS Adapter via a zero modem cable (e.g. order number: 6ES5 901-1BF00-0XA0) with the serial interface (COMx) of the PC with the TeleService software. In the SIMATIC Manager under "Options > Set PG/PC interface...", you must select the "Direct Connection" setting for the driver of the TS Adapter.
2 Connecting the PC Adapter to the RS232 interface
Use the plug-in connecting cable (zero modem cable) between the PC's COM port and the PC Adapter. The cable must comply with the defined standard RS232 cable (MLFB 6ES7 901-1BF00-0XA0). The pin assignment of the standard RS232 cable is given in the figure below (the assignment is identical on both sides).

Fig. 01 If you use the standard cable, you can implement all versions of STEP 7 as well as all versions of the PC Adapter.

3 Connecting the PC Adapter to the USB interface
The USB PC Adapter creates an isolation between its MPI/DP interface and a USB interface within a safety extra-low voltage circuit. The power supply comes from the automation system via the MPI cable supplied. You must connect only the cable supplied (UL cable, AWM 2464, 0.3mm with 9-pin Sub D connectors) to the automation system. It is not permitted to use a different cable for the connection or an external supply of 24V DC to Pins 2 and 7.

The power supply is required by the MPI interface.

Note:
The following connections are not possible with a PC or USB adapter:

  • Setup via parallel-serial converter or USB-serial converter.
  • OPC connections.
4 TeleService cannot be used via a dedicated line
TeleService generally only supports dialup line mode. This is independent of how you apply TeleService. Possible applications:
  • Teleservicing
  • Teleservicing with call back
  • PG-AS remote interfacing
  • AS-AS remote interfacing
5 Setting up a connection via TeleService to the operator panel with ProSave
Basically ProSave supports all transmission channels that can also transmit ProTool data. Thus it is possible to execute all the ProSave functions also via TeleService.
