Sales/Delivery Release of the innovated S7-1200 Signal and Communication Modules

With immediate effect, the completely innovated S7-1200 signal module and communication module portfolio - with new order numbers - is available for delivery. 
The innovated modules (6ES7 2xx-xxx32-0XB0) replace the preceding modules (6ES7 2xx-xxx30-0XB0) and are fully spare-parts-compatible. 
 
Improved Functionality
 
Among other things, the innovated S7-1200 modules are characterized by the following additional technical features:
  • The listed analog input and output modules support current signals in the range from 4 to 20 mA. 
  • The listed analog input modules support a wire break detection when used in the range from 4 to 20 mA.
  • The listed thermocouple modules support type B thermocouples in addition to the previous ones. 
  • The keying of the plug connectors prevents errors when connecting field wiring connectors that are available for the listed modules with relay outputs.

Spare Parts Compatibility

The innovated signal modules (6ES7 2xx-xxx32-0XB0) replace the previous signal modules (6ES7 2xx-xxx30-0XB0) and are spare-parts-compatible with them. The revised modules can be used without changes in place of the previous signal modules.
 
Software Requirements 
  • To utilize the full functionality of the innovated signal modules, the respective module needs to be configured using its new order number. If necessary, the corresponding hardware support package must be used for this. The appropriate procedure is outlined in the article "How do you update the hardware catalog in STEP 7 (TIA Portal)?" 54163658
  • The upload of a module configuration from the device configuration editor will not recognize the innovated signal modules. They have to be manually integrated into your project. If necessary, drag the signal modules from the hardware catalog and drop them into the device configuration.
