Configuring the SIMATIC FM 350-2 Counter Module in SIMATIC PCS 7

  • Entry
  • Associated product(s)
This application example describes operating modes and functions of the counter module as well as the necessary configuration and integration steps.
Every automated system involves counting, dosing, or measuring. Sensors and actuators supply signals that are read by a counter module, evaluated by an automation system (AS) and visualized on an Operator Station (OS).

Figure 01 - Reading, evaluating and visualization of counter values

The 8-channel counter module SIMATIC FM 350-2 can be used for universal and exact counting and measuring tasks up to 20 kHz. With its integration you can realize the following tasks for process automation:

  • Measurement of flow quantity
  • Measurement of rotational speed

You can start and stop the count process either via the user program (software) or via external signals (hardware).

This entry was created with SIMATIC PCS 7 V8.0 SP1 and SIMATIC FM 350-2
firmware version V6.0, the procedure is valid for higher versions of SIMATIC PCS 7.
