Firmware Update for ET 200SP IM155-6DP HF

Description:

When firmware is updated, it must always be updated to the latest version available for the respective article number. The previous versions of the firmware are only intended as a backup to enable you to downgrade to the original version if necessary.

A detailed description of performing the firmware update is provided in the entry 78646133.

Note:
When new, replaced or upgraded I/O modules are installed, a firmware update of the IM155-6DP HF interface module with article number 6ES7155-6Bx00-0CN0 to firmware version V1.1.0 or higher may also be necessary.
(Supply from Siemens stock until 12/2013).

Therefore, updating the firmware of the IM155-6DP HF interface module is generally highly recommended for modules with firmware versions < V1.1.0!

Update V3.1.1

With FW V3.1.1, the runtime behavior of the F- RQ 1x24-48VDC/24-230VAC/3A (6ES7136-6RA00-0BF0) on the IM155-6DP HF has been improved as compared to FW V3.1.0.

If a firmware update from V1.0.0 directly to V3.1.1 is planned, an update of the boot code is only required with version S1.2.1. The procedure is described in the section "Update V3.0.0". An intermediate step with an update to V3.0.0 is not necessary in this case. The firmware can be updated directly to V3.1.1.

 

Update V3.0.0

The following new functions are supported with the new firmware version:

  • Station expansion with IP67 I/O line ET 200AL via ET-connection

Note:
The previous update of the bootloader with S1.2.1 is required for the upgrade to the new firmware version.
After the update of the bootloader, an update to the functional firmware V3.0.0 is only possible via a direct Profibus connection to the IM155-6DP HF.
The module does not perform data exchange with firmware S1.2.1! This does not result in the forwarding of data records (firmware update) for routing via a Profinet controller.

Procedure for updating the firmware:

IM 155-6 DP HF with FW V1.0.0 oder V1.1.0 available

  1. Update of the boot code to S1.2.1 according to the following description
  2. Update the firmware to V3.0.0

Procedure for update:

The firmware version S1.2.1 is to be used exclusively for the update of the boot code. IM155-6DP HF does not perform data exchange with firmware S1.2.1!

  1. The update to S1.2.1 is made on the basis of the firmware V1.0.0 or V1.1.0. Do not select the option "Activate firmware after download"
  2. Turn the power to the IM 155-6 DP HF off and on again.
    Run, Error and Maintenance LEDs light up twice briefly.
    The boot code update is completed when the RUN LED flashes quickly (2 Hz) and the Maintenance LED flashes slowly (0.5 Hz). If this LED pattern is present immediately after switching on the device, the boot code is already up-to-date.
    NOTICE: Do not disconnect the IM 155-6 DP HF from the power supply until the Run and Maintenance LEDs flash as described.
  3. Firmware Update to V3.0.0

Update V1.1.0

The following functional changes have been implemented:

  • The operation of a module downstream from a Y-Link is possible with this firmware version.
  • The module can now also be configured via HSP. Configuration with GSD file is still possible.

Note:
The previous update of the bootloader with S1.0.1 is required for the upgrade to the new firmware version.
After the update of the bootloader, an update to the functional firmware V1.1.0 is only possible via a direct Profibus connection to the IM155-6DP HF.
