How can you use the PID Self-Tuner V5 for negative control direction (e.g. for cooling control)?

The PID Self-Tuner cannot calculate a negative amplification factor and always requires a positive change of setpoint value.

To accomplish a negative control direction you must make the following changes in the "Controller/Tuner" interconnection:

  1. Negate the setpoint value ("SP") to the self-tuner (multiply by -1.0) and likewise the output value "SP_OUT" from the self-tuner to the controller.
  2. Negate the actual controller value from the controller to the self-tuner ("PV").
  3. Negate the amplification factor "GAIN" to the controller.
