  • Associated product(s)

Question
What is important when configuring a PROFIBUS link between SINUMERIK 840D and SINUMERIK 840D sl if SINUMERIK 840D is to be set up as a PROFIBUS master and SINUMERIK 840D sl as a PROFIBUS slave?

Answer
Please note the sequence of the settings. The individual configuration steps in STEP 7 hardware configuration are given in the following table.

Settings Screenshots
First configured station is the PROFIBUS slave (SINUMERIK 840D sl)
Second configured station is the PROFIBUS master (SINUMERIK 840D)
Setting of the configuration interface in the properties of the PROFIBUS slave
Setting of the PROFIBUS mode in the properties of the PROFIBUS slave
Parameterization of the communication area in the properties of the PROFIBUS slave
Setting of the configuration interface for PROFIBUS master

Transfer the translated and consistency-checked stations to the PROFIBUS master and to the PROFIBUS slave using the MPI protocol. The interface is automatically switched over from MPI to PROFIBUS by transferring the hardware configuration to the PROFIBUS slave and communication from the programming device to the controller is interrupted.

Integrate the PROFIBUS master and PROFIBUS slave using a PROFIBUS cable, as follows:

  • PROFIBUS master in connector X102
  • PROFIBUS slave in connector X136

Note
To ensure synchronization of the stations during startup, the organization blocks OB82 and OB86 in both stations are required.
