Which settings must you make to use automatic SIMATIC powerrate Reports in the WinCC Service operating mode?
If you want to operate a WinCC project in the "Service" operating mode, we generally recommend opening the SIMATIC powerrate Reports on a second computer. If this is not possible, you must change the DCOM settings as described in the instructions below to enable setting of the automatic SIMATIC powerrate Reports.
Note that all settings must be made with administrator privileges. In addition, you should make a backup of your project or an image of the computer concerned.
- Open the DCOM configuration via Start > All Programs > Accessories > Run > dcomcnfg.
- In the top left window, in the menu structure "Console Root > Component Services > Computer > My Computer > DCOM Configuration", check that the "Microsoft Excel Application" item is there.
If the "Microsoft Excel Application" component is not available, continue with Point 4.
- Right-click to open the "Properties" of the "Microsoft Excel Application" component and in the "Identity" tab you enter the user also entered for the WinCC "Service" operating mode.
Restart the computer and you can then use the automatic SIMATIC powerrate Reports in the WinCC "Service" operating mode. Skip Point 4.
- You only have to implement this point if the "Microsoft Excel Application" component is not available in the DCOM configuration.
Open the DOS prompt via "Start > Programs > Accessories > DOS prompt". Enter the "mmc -32" command.
This opens the Windows console.
Add the "Component Services" snap-in via File > Add or Remove Snap-ins and confirm this with "OK".
In the Windows console, in the left window you select the "Microsoft Excel Application" via the menu structure Console Root > Component Services > Computer > My Computer > DCOM Configuration (if messages with regard to the entry of registry keys are displayed, acknowledge the messages with "No").
Right-click to open the "Properties" of the "Microsoft Excel Application" component and in the "Identity" tab you enter the user also entered for the WinCC "Service" operating mode.
Restart the computer and you can then use the automatic SIMATIC powerrate Reports in the WinCC "Service" operating mode.
After changing the DCOM settings you might get the following warning when opening automatic SIMATIC powerrate Reports.
You can ignore this warning, because it does not affect the functions.
