Retrofit for electric motors
The modernization of electric motors and converters – also called retrofit – forms an essential part in their product lifecycle.
Retrofits ensure investment security. They optimize availability, reliability and energy efficiency of installed drives. The latter is also beneficial for the environmental impact of the company.
Siemens offers a comprehensive retrofit program for Siemens and external products. This program reaches from simple modifications and upgrades to the exchange of individual components right up to complex retrofit projects.
Retrofit is usually the most economic solution for prolonging the lifecycle of the entire plant. If all upgrade options have already been exercised, Siemens can replace obsolete technologies with state-of-the-art drives and motors from the current product range. This also includes the possibility to equip already installed motors with speed-variable drives, which does not only add to a cost reduction due to energy saving but also to an optimization of the processes. If required older motors can also be reconstructed 1:1. Thus, an extensive subsequent qualification of the new machine can usually be prevented.
With retrofit, the maintenance effort which increases with the advanced lifecycle, can be reduced reliably and the availability of the plant can be increased again.
- Increased availability and total efficiency of the drives.
- Less maintenance effort for advanced product lifecycle.
- Improved efficiency.
- Process optimization.
- Increased energy efficiency at simultaneous adjustment to current environmental conditions.
- Lower down time risks and less unplanned standstill times.
- Better diagnostic options.
