The Extended Exchange Option (EEO) for Process Instrumentation (PI) enables you to protect your Siemens process instrumentation order against unforeseeable repair or replacement costs. The EEO for PI applies to the repair and replacement of devices which have failed due to material defects. An EEO for PI can be purchased for all Siemens process instrumentation devices together with the product order. A purchase after the initial order of the devices is not possible. A running period of 24 36, 48 or 60 months can be selected and starts with the product delivery. You can purchase the EEO for PI for all devices bought from Siemens Process instrumentation which own a serial number (for traceability). In case of a warranty claim, the defective device can be returned worldwide using the standard return process of the respective region.

Specification of the service offering EEO for PI
Scope and duration of service
The EEO for PI can be ordered for all Siemens devices from the business unit Process instrumentation together with the product order. An independent order detached from the product order is not possible. Excluded from this offering are devices with no serial number and software. During the contract period you will receive at the choice of Siemens a repair or replacement your defective device which you have ordered together with the option. The scope of the service is carried out according to the currently valid General Conditions for the Supply of Products and Services of the Electrical and Electronics Industry ("GL")*
The soft- and firmware on the repaired or replaced device equals the “factory new condition” (that means customer specific data will not be saved or synchronized).
The period of the contract is defined based on the option which has been ordered (24, 36, 48, 60 months after delivery).
The EEO for PI can be ordered from our local sales offices together with the devices you want to insure. Optionally you can request a certificate which shows the order information and the secured devices including their selected period of time.
In case of a warranty claim, the defective device can be returned worldwide using the standard return process of the respective region. It is the responsibility of the customer to state the return as an EEO for PI case in order that his claim will be handled and processed correct.

This claim will be handled free of charge for the customer if the claim is conform to the above mentioned scope of the service. If the claim does not conform to the requirements a cost estimation will be presented to the customer and he can choose if he wants the service to be performed.
The defective devices need to be identifiable as an Extended Warranty case. The traceability will be ensured with the serial number of the device.
Responsibilities of the customer
Before sending a defective product to Siemens the customer is responsible to save any data on the respective product.
Exclusion from scope of service
No repair or replacement will be granted for devices which have failed due to the following reasons:
To not comply with the Siemens operator regulations, e.g. wrong installation or earthing according to specifications as well as incorrect handling during operation or similar ;
Defect due to process influence, e.g. fouling or wear of material;
Electrical external influence, e.g. overvoltage;
Act of nature beyond control
The installation and removal will not be performed by Siemens if not separately ordered. Additionally Siemens will not refund any cost for installation and removal as well as transport.
The replacement of expendable and wearing parts is not covered within the EEO for PI.
