This rack is not coming under the H system, but still I am able to configure the H system hardware configuration using that Rack and H system CPU.

I have done something like that before in a project i was limited by space so i used to CR3. but i added two UR2-H in the hardware configuration

As you may know a redundant H-system is allowed to be placed in distance you normally use UR2 to do this solution. UR2-H is only needed if you want to place a redundant H-system very close to each other - even if you could achieve the same with two UR2 racks. Regards Myst

Extract from S7-400H Manual " : SIMATIC Fault-tolerant systems S7-400H Rack for S7–400H The UR2-H rack supports the installation of two separate subsystems with nine slots each, and is suitable for installation in 19" cabinets. You can also set up the S7-400H in two separate racks. The racks UR1 and UR2 are available for this purpose. Hope this helps Cheers Navnag

CR3 is a central rack ( 4 slots) But if he needs more (up to 9 Slots), Then he should go to UR2 Rack.

Hello, Why configuring in TIA? I believe that H-System is not supported by STEP 7 TIA til now. Hi, I didn't mean TIA portal, I meant TIA Selection tool to check the compatibility of the system. I could not find Simatic Selection Tool in our website, that's the reason for me to use the TIA selection tool.

To select the suitable rack that will accomodate CPUs of S7-400, please follow these steps: Use Qty: 1 of UR2-H Rack "6ES7400-2JA00-0AA0" or "6ES7400-2JA10-0AA0" (ALU type) if both CPUs will be installed near to each other and if you need more than 4 slots for each rack. Use Qty: 2 of CR3 Rack "6ES7401-1DA01-0AA0" if you won't need more than 4 slots for each CPU rack. It can be used in both cases, if the two CPUs are close to each others or even if there are a long distance between them. Use Qty:2 of UR2 Rack "6ES7400-1JA01-0AA0" if you need more than 4 slots (up to 9 slots) for each CPU rack. It can be used in both cases, if the two CPUs are close to each others or even if there are a long distance between them. But normally, it's used if the CPUs are not close to each others. Here's bellow list of all available S7-400 racks: UR1 (Universal Rack) For setting up central controllers and expansion units For holding up to 18 modules Also suitable for S7-400H Also available as aluminum rack UR2 (Universal Rack) For setting up central controllers and expansion units For holding up to 9 modules Also suitable for S7-400H Also available as aluminum rack CR2 (Central Rack) For setting up central controllers For holding up to 18 modules Segmented rack: For operating two mutually independent S7-400 CPUs without S7-400 Multicomputing, but with communication between the CPUs over the backplane bus (C bus). Both CPUs can address their own local I/O modules (segmented P bus). CR3 (Central Rack) For configuring central racks Optimized for distributed automation solutions due to holding up to 4 modules UR2-H For configuring a completeS7-400Hsystem in one subrack Also suitable for S7-400: Operation of 2 separate CPUs with their own I/O (separate P and C buses) Can also be used as an expansion unit For holding up to 18 modules Also available as aluminum rack ER1 (Extension Rack) For setting up expansion units economically For holding up to 18 modules with restricted functionality Also suitable forS7-400H Also available as aluminum rack ER2 (Extension Rack) For setting up expansion units economically For holding up to 9 modules with restricted functionality Also suitable forS7-400H Also available as aluminum rack Attachment rack.pdf (852 Downloads)
