Disable LOGO buttons

sludge Posts: 9 Rating: (0)	I would like to disable the buttons on the LOGO model with display. Apparently there is not an option to disable this feature within the software application or the LOGO itself. I disassembled a LOGO and placed electricians tape over the button pads on the PCB that I wanted to disable. The LOGO was assembled and it appeared to operate OK and the buttons were successfully disabled. I have not done much testing on this unit to be 100% sure all is fine, but it sure was easy and straight forward. Anybody else explored this technique?

Most people don't like fiddling around inside a piece of electronics (warranty issues!), but I suppose the LOGO! is easy enough to open and close without doing any damage! I know one guy who wanted optically isolated outputs, so he opened a relay version and removed the relays and put his own opto-couplers in. It was for a diesel engine application and he wanted to isolate the LOGO! from possible electrical noise from the engine. (He had to use the 12/24 version 'cos he only had 12V DC and therefore he could not use the LOGO! 24) Only problem wiht your solution is that the 'sticky' on the underside of the tape breaks down after a few months and leaves a horrible residue inide. Also, a frustrated user might keep on pushing and pushing the buttons and wear-out your solution, or just remove the whole device and send it back to you saying that it is faulty 'cos the buttons dont work! Oh the things that we do to these poor little devices!

LOGO!Barbarian Posts: 173 Rating: (95)	Hi dzwilu & sludge! I think that there will be a password protection feature added in a new software or firmware (E-stand) version of the 0BA6 and LOGO! TD that will prevent users being able to put the LOGO! into STOP from the TD. A colleague of ours heard this at the Hannover Fair this year. So we will have to wait for that update!

One possible way to "disable" the cursor keys, or at least make it more difficult to use the cursor keys, is to use AND block and one or more inputs that must be activated at the same time as pressing the cursor keys. By placing these extra "dummy" inputs properly, (hidden but accessible when needed) one can make the cursor keys disabled. Hope this gives You new ideas. But my system does not react for pressing the arrow keys, what i mean is, in the monitoring screen, if I press f.e. the down arrow, the software doesn't show that it is activated... To use the arrow keys in the program, they have to pressed with ESC key. Without the ESC they act as menu navigation... Best regards dzwilu
