Hello, I am a graduate student in aerospace engineering trying to program a system in my research lab. I have a configuration of 2 S7 1215 DC/DC/DC PLCs and 1 KTP700 Basic HMI, as I have been trying to integrate two projects into one. The challenge is that we wish to keep both PLCs so the systems can still operate standalone, but no matter what has been done, the HMI that both systems are connected to will not write to one of the PLCs. It is worth noting that an ethernet cord runs from the HMI to the main PLC, and the secondary PLC is connected to the first PLC through another ethernet cable, but the second PLC does not directly connect to the HMI. I figured this wasn't an issue because I connected the devices under the same subnet in TIA Portal, but the second PLC will not respond to any input from the HMI. For example, I have a motor enable switch on the screen that, when pressed, gives the error "value could not be written to the PLC". When I turn on a switch that changes a tag on the first PLC, however, it works just fine. I noticed also just a few minutes ago that when I boot up the system, upon HMI start, I get a connection established with the first PLC, and a connection disconnected with the second PLC. I've followed the manuals for connecting multiple PLCs, used different ethernet cables, connected the HMI directly to the second PLC, updated the firmware on all devices, configured the IP and re-checked it multiple times, re-checked the wiring of the system, and I still get no dice. I've checked so many threads on the forums but none of the solutions proposed actually fixed my issue. Any ideas what else could be causing this disconnection and causing the HMI to only allow writing to the first PLC? TIA program in ZIP form is attached. If more detail is needed, I can give it.
