I went through the forums to find answer for my question but couldn't find it. Please help

I am a newbie to WinCC TIA portal

" I have one object and need to dynamize its appearance in three different colors(Green, Red & Yellow) with inputs from three different PLC tags(hmi tag1, hmi tag2 & hmi tag3)(bool). I could add only one tag in Animations->Display->Appearance ! How to add multiple tags to same object ?

You can use a VB Script to change the backcolor of the object based on the HMI tags.

you have different options. It depends what Runtime/Panel you use.

With Basic Panels you can't use scripts.
With WinCC RT Professional you can use C and VBS.
With WinCC RT Advanced/Comfort Panels you can use VBS.

Options:

• Use VBS to change the background color, like dawson_1985 suggested.
  See: "How do you use scripts to dynamize objects in WinCC Comfort and WinCC Advanced?"

  Add some basic logic, like: If SmartTags("PLC_tag_a")=1 then hgcolor=vbGreen else if...
• Create an Integer out of the three Boolean tags and choose "Multiple bits" as type.
  (PLC_tag_a -> Bit 0, PLC_tag_b -> Bit 1, PLC_tag_c -> Bit 2 > ...00 0111) or choose "Range".
• Don't use VBS and create the logic of the second point in the PLC. Connect the HMI animation to the new PLC tag.

 Hi Dawson,

The object was a simple rectangle. Initially I tried with 'valves and pipes' from graphics library, but couldn't find a option to animate color based on tag. So, i choose a simple rectangle. 

Now, with your suggestion, I will make it with VB script.

Hello,

Another way to dynamize an object based on multiple bool-tags could be to define an int-value at the plc, set this int-value via the movebox when the bool-tags are set and use this int-value to dynamize the object.

 FYI, and I know this was not the topic, but just to let you know...

To use colors on Symbol library objects you need to change Properties -> Apperance -> Fill style (under Style) to Shaded. And you also need to animate Foreground colors instead of Background.
