Hello David. What you are hearing is the P.O.S.T. signals decribing hardware problems that block the PC from booting. P.O.S.T. = Power-On Self Test. The length of the beeps is also importnat, long or short, in various combinations. And the P.O.S.T. signa;ls vary depending on the manufacturer of the PC, the OSand the BIOS. Have a look at this link, it has agoodlist of various P.O.S.T. beeps, their origin and meanings: http://www.computerhope.com/beep.htm For example., if your BIOSis from PHOENIX BIOS Q3.07 OR 4.X , then your 1-3-3-1 beep signal would refer to DRAM trouble, possibly unseated memory bars in the PC mainboard.
