im installing Tia portal v20

I am experiencing an issue when trying to install the panel image using HMI_PIU_Installer_2.0.0.0.

When I run the installer, the black command window (as shown in the attached screenshot) appears for a moment and then closes immediately. After that, nothing happens — the installation does not proceed.

The installer output shows messages such as "Desktop App Installer package is installed..." which implies that the required components are already installed.
However, the panel image files are not created.

In the folder:

C:\Program Files\Siemens\Automation\Portal V20\Data\Hmi\Transfer\17.0

there are only XML files, and no panel image files (.fw, .xip, .bin, etc.).
Therefore, it seems that the installation did not complete successfully, even though the installer reports that components are already installed.

This problem did not occur before — the panel image installation worked normally on my previous PC.
But on a new computer, I encounter this issue every time I run the installer.

Could you please advise why this happens, and how I can successfully install the panel image?

The HMI Panel Image Updater allows you to download images individually instead of installing them all at once. This means that the installation will not download any panel images.

However, if the tool fails to install, you can contact Siemens by creating a support request. Your information will help the developers resolve version incompatibilities and provide an updated version.

Since this process takes time, you should review the offline installation instructions provided in Chapter 1.2 on the download page.

As I mentioned in another thread, installation issues seem to be becoming more common. However, I did not experience any problems when I tested it on a fully updated Windows 11 system.

The best approach would be to submit a support request. This will give the developers insight into your current behavior.

Additionally, I did some research and found the following recommendations:

• Run the PIU with administrator rights, try downloading and installing the latest version of application from SiePortal.
• Reinstall or Update Microsoft dependency applications like Microsoft app installer & Windows App runtime. Enable App sideloading or Developer Mode in Windows settings for MSIX package installation and keep windows up to date.
  Install and update the App Installer - MSIX | Microsoft Learn
• If there is an installation of older version application, Uninstall and delete the residual PIU files from system before trying a fresh installation.
• Disable anti-virus Software and group policy during the time of installation and check the behavior.
• Ensure siemens certificates are trusted in the machine under Manage computer certificates.

Hi everyone,

I have found solution for this. When this CMD pop-up close automatically then open RUN (win+R) → %temp%

You will see “LpiUpdater_2.0.0.0_x64.msix” file there. Double click on it to install. 

Check in start menu HMI Panel Image Updater and run it.
