M7 TO S7400 MIGRATION

TEBANCH Posts: 232 Rating: (20)	Hi every one, i have to migrateseveral M7CPU's to S7400 CPU's. My questions are: 1.- Is there any restriction for choosing the CPU's? 2.- If i have the source code of the M7 CPU, is there a way to convert it to S7 code? 3.- If i don't have source code, the program must be rebuilded at all? 4.- The part number of M7 CPU is 6ES7486-3AA00-0AB0, wich is the recomended S7 CPU part number to replace the M7? The M7 system is not compatible with a PLC CPU: From the M7-300 Programmable Controller manual: The SIMATIC M7-300 is a PC-compatible automation computer. It is designed as an enclosed modular system designed for SIMATIC S7 racks; it can be used both in the S7-300 programmable controller and in a standalone arrangement with I/Os from the S7 range. The M7-300 is capable of solving real-time tasks, such as complex open and closed-loop control algorithms together with visualization and EDP tasks using a single CPU. Software based on RMOS, DOS or Windows will run on it. Furthermore, the standardized PC architecture offers open user-programmable expansion of the S7 automation platform. The program blocks were designed using "Program package M7-ProC/C++", a Borland C++ compiler and a special M&-Sys operating software embeded in the M7 CPU. Step 7 is not capable of interpreting the code from a M7 system, so it cannot upgrade it. And if you do not have the source code.. it will be even more difficult. The only thing I could think of at this point would be a computer-based soft controller, such as a WinAC machine, linking to external blocks programmed to perform the same calculations as your M7 system was programmed for. But the actual details of such an operation are way out of my league. i hope someopne with more experience in these matters can add to this. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier

Do you mean M7 blocks copuld be programmed in CFC directly, or that CFC can be used to implement the source code functions? I would have suggested SCL... Regards, Daniel Chartier

If source make in M7 by CFC, then program can ported to S7. May be need redesign repaint) chart. I wrote my programm for M7 by Borland C 5.02 excuse my english.
