To me, a solid approach is to open your current S7-1200 project, perform "File -> Save-As", and name it "<current_project_name>_upgrade" or something similar.

In the upgrade project, add the s7-1500 plc you intend to use.  Add the I/O modules, remote I/O racks / modules, remote I/O devices (like VFDs).

Once all the I/O is covered, export the PLC tags from the S7-1200's PLC Tags, and then import those same tags into the s7-1500's PLC tags.

Configure the s7-1500 hardware to meet the project's needs.

Delete any blocks in the s7-1500 portion of the upgrade project.

In the s7-1200, select all program blocks, copy, then right-click on the program blocks in S7-1500 and paste those blocks.

Now update all blocks, compile hardware (rebuild all).  Fix all hardware problems.  Download the hardware configuration to the s7-1500 PLC and verify you can go online with the s7-1500.  Make sure it gives green check boxes for the various hardware components.  If it does not, find and fix those problems.

Once the hardware is properly configured and connected and communicating, rebuild / compile all blocks.

Fix errors.

Now you can look for S7-1500 specific blocks that may help optimize the logic - if necessary.

Lastly, fix any s7-1500 hardware specific code - like for high-speed counters, or PTO/PWM outputs which do not have exact code-wise counterparts in s7-1500's.

Hello,

we have a project with a PLC with 1200, 5pcs V-90, HMI, expansion modules 2x ETH 200.

The customer decided to convert PLC S1200 to PLC S1500.

How to migrate it as easy as possible please? We have tiaportal version 16 and if I go to the device and catalogue, unfortunately I cannot change to a different PLC than what is there in the changes.

If I add a new S1500, it has different readers and so on. I understand that we have to re-address everything, but my concern is the block setup and more.

Is there any easy way to transfer this or is it better to take it all and throw it away?

How to proceed please?
