I am trying to use WORD_TO_BLOCK_DB. I look it up in Help but it seems that this instruction can't be used in S7-1500. In fact, BLOCK_DB type doesn't exist. We have DB_ANY instead but there isn't any instructions such as "WORD_TO_DB_ANY". So, how can we get a DB_ANY from a INT (or WORD) type?

I am using: TIA Portal V15.1 Update 3, CPU 1508S.

Hi!

Try with:

#DB := VARIANT_TO_DB_ANY(In := #Word, err := Int);

where:

#DB is variable of type DB_ANY

#Word is a variable of type Word

#Int is a variable of type Int

I use:

DB := UINT_TO_DB_ANY(WORD_TO_UINT(DINT_TO_WORD(#DBnumber)));

CrazyCows answer is better though, imo.

I tried VARIANT_TO_DB_ANY instruction as suggested by crazyCow but it didn't work. Word input is not allowed. Has anybody tried?

Then I tried the other option (UINT_TO_DB_ANY) and it really seems to work well though when I use the DB_ANY result as an input of an FC, it doesn't work properly. But I guess it is another matter.

So, for me the solution is UINT_TO_DB_ANY.

Simplifying FringePLC solution, for me it worked this way:

DB := UINT_TO_DB_ANY(DINT_TO_UINT(#DBnumber));
