TP177B DP/PN <--> Hawkeye 40T barcode reader

Alfa Posts: 24 Rating: (1)	Hi, Anyone knows is it possible to connect Siemens Hawkeye 40T usb barcode reader directly to the TP177B DP/PN panel usb-port? If it is possible how i can get the barcode data to the CPU what is connected to TP-panel PN-port?

Take a look at this faq: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/19188460 you need to configure a io-field with a String tag. So if the focus is at the io-field and you scan a barcode the stringcode will be written in this io-field and also send to the plc if you have plc-tag. best regards

Alfa Posts: 24 Rating: (1)	Hi, Thank you for your quick answer. So if I have barcode reader connected to tp177B-panel usb-port i can then see the string data on the panel and plc? Hmm how is the string tag configured at wincc flexible? If the string tags “communication partner” is S7-315(not internal tag) plc how does the barcode reader “know” which string field it transfers the value? Alfa Posts: 24 Rating: (1)	Our local Siemens guy just visited me and confirmed that user must first manually activate the string tag what is configured on the panel and then use the barcode reader to get the readings to the tag. Also he told me that there could be other way to use PLC JOB 51 (activate screen + field nr.)but he didn´t know it for sure. So case is closed...
