I'm having running back up of S5 Sysem. Now i have to migrate it to the CPU 1511.

I tried with S5 to S7 conversion tool, But it is showing some errors while migrating.

i also minimise that errors by Inserting "//" in front of it. But is it right procedure ?????

Please help me.......

Startr specifically to the Application Note "S5 to S7-1500 migration", there is a lot of helpful information there for your application.

As you will find in these discussions, migrating from one type of processor to another always brings these error/warning messages. The way various tasks are implemented in your S5 PLC (and there are many important differences between the families of S5 CPUs) is very different to  the way these tasks are done in the S7 family.

For example, analog processing or floating-point math require special function blocks in most S5 families, whereas in the S7 PLCs these tasks are integrated in the operating system of the CPU; so trying to migrate these FBs results  in messages that the conversion cannot be done.

Another common example concerns communication blocks, which are handled with Netpro (for connections) and SFC/SFBs in S7 PLCs, whereas S5 CPUs needed separate COMxxx packages for each comm. processor. That specific part of the program cannot be migrated.

Same thing for indirect addressing, DO operations of the S5 CPUs are replaced with STL indirect addressing in the S7-300 CPUs. You will get a warning everytime you try to migtrate this type of operation. The sane will happen if you reach specific instruction so th S5 family that do not exist in S7.

So, basically, you must examine every error message you get in the first conversion path of the S5 to s7 package and correct or remove the offending instruction from the S5 program, to be replaced in the S7 program by appropriate tasks.
