fcakmak2004 Bronze Member Joined: 3/15/2006 Last visit: 3/4/2025 Posts: 18 Rating: (0)	I have a client-server configuration that is consist of one PCS7 Server and one PCS7 Client and I am working PCS7 V7.0+SP1 (ES,OS Server and OS Client are same PCS7 version). I have succesfully downloaded the program from ES to the client andWhen I open the WinCC Explorer on the client, I don't working on overview area button links (pictures of the plant).Therefore I can't see process picturesbut I can see the process alarms and I can acknowledge the alarms. But I can see process pictures on the server and I am working on overview area button links at Server. I don't understandthis problem. Please, Can I help me...

Phantom75 Posts: 2661 Rating: (279)	fcakmak2004: Try the following simple experiment and if does not work, my guess is, there is a problem with your WinCC client installation: - On the the client open WinCC explorer - Close any opened project - Create a new test client project - Run OS Project Editor - Activate runtime and you should see the Plant Hierarchy buttons on the top. Let me know how it goes.

Have you checked your communication connections and are they all working OK? My suspicion is the scripts for the buttons on the client have been corrupted. OK, my suggestions: stop the client, copy @AreaButtons.pdl from the GRACS folder on the server into the client GRACS folder, then restart the client. Sure it's a cheat solution, but should work. If it doesn't work, regenerate the server data for the client. Then recompile the project. If that still doesn't work, then go into the buttons screen and examine the scripts. I have had this happen: if your client does not have proper login privileges (i.e. all the users on the client have been removed), you will not see the button text. Make a user on the client who is the same as one on the server, restart the client and then log in as that user. Lastly, check the users configured in the usermanager on Windows XP. If the user who logs in at the client is not a member of SIMATIC-HMI as a group, make the user a member of that group. Good luck. Let us know which one solved the problem, or if it's still a pain. Hence I suggested the quick experiment in my last postto eliminate the possibility of a bad installation. I have had this problem too a couple of times and assumed it to be a defective client station. So I deleted the client station, recreated the station, reassigned the server etc. etc. Frankly, I was not aware that this problem could occur because of lack of proper users? More over, if the client installation is ok, the users/permissions should be created automatically. Also, (presumably) fcakmak2004 was able to download to the client without problems proving that the shares etc. are properly created. Let's see how it goes. Regards, Phantom

All of the clients have the same problem too. It's a nuisance, but not yet frustrating. I'll make another attempt at figuring it out and resolving it when I get to the ES on Monday. Regards, Jim

I'm a guy, don't read or follow instructions until necessary, wasting prescious time. Hence my moniker. US Tech support instructs me to migrate the project as documented, and the problem will go away. I'll let you all know. Jim

Solved it by opening project in WinCC Explorer on ES, opening OS Project Editor, and then checking OK. It then regenerates the OS screens from the base_data_pool. All of the navigation buttons showed up then.

Phantom75 Posts: 2661 Rating: (279)	fcakmak2004: What Jim means by base data pool is the base library where the standard pictures are stored. Every time you create a new WinCC project or when you run the OS Project editor, standard pictures are copied from this library to your project. For solving your problem, please follow the steps below and let us know the results: Step 1 - Migrate your WinCC Client project Step 2 - Run OS Project editor. In your latest post, what you are saying is, on the client you can see the "overview buttons" on top and can jump to various screens from there, but you cannot access the screens from the key Picture selection by name located in the keyset at the bottom of the screen?

Phantom75 Posts: 2661 Rating: (279)	Since you can see the "buttons" in the overview, the server is online. If server is not online the buttons will show grayed out <server down>. The screens are fetched from the server when you click on these buttons. In the WinCC explorer, verify that the path is shown correctly in the server data. Also, verify the status of the server connections. At this point I cannot think ofsomething else. My recommendation is you should log in a support request with Siemens tech support. Somebody needs to take a look at your project. BTW, have you tried creating a brand new client? All the best.
