Photon Posts: 18 Rating: (0)	Hi, Is there something I can do to reduce the time it takes to load an existing project? Deleting stuff or compacting? I did a 'Reorginization' and that didn't help. It takes 15 minutes to load a project into SIMATIC manager, and thenanother 10 minutesto load my device in PDM. I'm not kidding. -ed V5.4 ofManager, V6.0+SP3 of PDM

Phantom75 Posts: 2661 Rating: (279)	Is it same with all projects? Try with a test project. Assuming you have all the recommendations stated in the PCS7-readme, I would consider reinstalling everything from scratch... Are you using virtual machine?

Photon Posts: 18 Rating: (0)	Hi, I am using a P4 2.66Ghz with 1.5G of ram. I've tried loading the project with little else running after a reboot and it still takes forever. I am in the midst of testing our new PA device, so I have been doing a lot of reading and writing to the device, changing device descriptions by importing etc. I thought perhaps doing that a lot was generating entries in a database or log file of some sort that might be loaded everytime the project is loaded. In other words, if I delete and re-create theproject, it loads very quickly. Only after use a few times does it begin to get very slow. Thought there might be some kind of 'cleanup' I could do. Loading the DPPA example loads quickly too, but I have no device to connect to with it so it doesn't generate any kind of logs etc.

Phantom75 Posts: 2661 Rating: (279)	Hi Photon, Seems this is a known problem (according to colleagues) with PDM V6.0 + SP3. An upgrade to SP5 is recommended: Update for SIMATIC PDM V6.0 to V6.0 + SP5 Regards

Photon Posts: 18 Rating: (0)	I have updated to the new version, but now I cannot run either the AutomationLicense Manager or Simatic Manager. - When I run the License Manager I get an error that states "Cannot start access-protection components" and I cannot run theprogram. - When I run Simatic Manager I get a windows error which indicates that 'almsrvx.exe' is being closed. If I attempt to load a project in Manager, I get a 'Cannot establish connection to the Automation manager Service' error. (Trying to run License Manager after this happens I get an error "The "Automation License Manager Service" has not been started! Please start the Service."" I had a previousFloating Licenseloaded and working before the upgrade. I still have the Floating License floppy if I need to re-apply it, but I cannot get License Manager to run to do so. - I uninstalled everything, rebooted,and did a re-install which completed correctly, but I still cannot run License Manager. - I am an administrator on this PC. Any ideas why this is not working?? -ed

Photon Posts: 18 Rating: (0)	I was eventually able to get this to work by going back to V3.0 SP1 of ALM. I also neede to remove some registry entries: Uninstall the ALM. Then look in the registry for the following key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Siemens\Shared Tools\autacc\Clients with the following entry 'LicenseManager_{..}' In the registry export and delete the following folders HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Siemens\Shared Tools\autacc and..\LLAITF . After that install the ALM once more. Before delete the almdb.mdb. Took a bit, but that now works. Thanks for the help, -ed

Another way maybe is to reinstall of software. This way is not recommended but sometimes is the last decision. Regards Hristo Mihalev

One thing I did notice was that - in the previous version I was running, a directory was created in the siemens 'program files' tree that included all the EDDL files exactly as I had imported them (copies). I don't see that in the new version. Either the import failed (and I got no indication of a fail) or the new version does not do a copy and savesthe EDDL filessome other way. I do see an xml files that has the info, and I do see the EDDL info if I try tore-import the sames files, so I assumed the import worked. Scratch that. I see now there is a siemens directory off the root that has the importedEDDL files. -ed

Photon Posts: 18 Rating: (0)	I have tried some modifications to my EDDL files to see if that mattered for communication (it didn't) but now I have multiple instances of slightly different DD files in the program. LifeList does come up with a selection, so it's no big deal, but eventually I want to remove the extra stuff. -ed
