Any advise how I would close (trip) a valve when a condition is met. In this case on high level tank, I want the valve to close. (This sits outside of the valve normal control philosophy). I am using a APL valve block.

Some options that I have thought of, which do other users recommend as best practice?

- CloseForce

-SafePos

- FaultExt (Thinking about this as its part of the hardwired HID)

You can connect it with your valve block at the connection "Intlock".

You can connect the high level to the Interlock-Block, and add a Text, that should appear in the OS.

Thanks for response. I don't think Interlock is relevant as that will prevent operation which is not what you want as you want to close.

In the end I used CloseForce.

Interlock might not be the right way forward here as the purpose it close the valve on effect and not prevent the valve from opening or closing. Out of Closeforce and SafePos, CloseForce is the more appropriate option. SafePos deals with defining the neutral position of the valve and it is dependant on whether ctrl = 0 or ctrl = 1 to determine if the valve closes or opens (under a fail-open or fail-close scenario)
