I'm working with a big multiproject now, PCS 7 v8.1

We are using Multi Engineering and sometimes it happens that when one PLC project is open from the other station and in that time the Engineering station fails (goes to reboot or the Simatic Manager is aborted, or somehow not completely closed, etc), then the whole project that was open remotely becomes inaccessible, broken. You won't be able to open it anyhow — Simatic Manager will show this message:

Open (256:18)

The end of the file was reached while an object was being read.

Earlier in this case I was desperately forced to take the project from the archive and repeat all recent software changed. But today I've found the solution:

You have to replace one binary file: PLCproject\Global\s7prj\envext

Yes, a file without extension, just about 550 byte of size. In the broken project it has zero size.

So I took it from the last archive and that's all.

Also It had happened with me but not with PCS with ECS(Expert Control System) Different SCADA system ......

The Reason when you are Monitoring the Same PLC from different Access points...

The Extension was recreated automatically when I Reboot the engineering stations
