I suggest you to look at SIMATIC HMI WinCC flexible 2008 Runtime (from page 15). There you'll see how the process visualization software WinCC flexible Runtime is used to run the user program
under Windows and to visualize the process. WinCC flexible Runtime is also used on the
configuration computer to test and simulate the compiled project file. Of course for this you need license and which version of WinCC Flex you have. You can find info for this also there.
