How to make WinCC project backup while RT runs ?

Alex3110 Posts: 359 Rating: (5)	Hello everybody ! We have multy-client SCADA system based on WinCC v.7.4 SP1. We have one HMI-server (with MS SQL Standard 2016) and several clients (without there own projects). How to make complete backup of the WinCC-project on server while RT is running (it's not desirable to stop it even for several minutes) ? 1. Is it ONLY possible with a special tool "Copy WinCC Project" ? 2. Does the "Project Duplicator" allow to make the backup if RT is ONLY stopped (not running) ? Thanks.

Thanks. freefilesync (Open Source Program) can make backups from a running WinCC project

bg2492 Posts: 7298 Rating: (2188)	Hello Alex3110, you could use the Tool "Copy Project V6.5". see Delivery release Copy Project V6.5 https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/109778903 Or you can use the "expensive" software "Symantec System Recovery 2013 R2 SP4" You can use the ProjectDuplicator to copy a project in Runtime, but in this case the "ArchiveManager" folder (Runtimedata) will not be copied. That all I needed. Normally very few people mention about this very important thing. Normaly nobody needs and nobody care about the "ArchiveManager" folder when making Project backup. But just one more question. Were there any cases when the "ProjectDuplicator" stopped WinCC RT when copying the Project Folder ?

bg2492 Posts: 7298 Rating: (2188)	Hello Alex3110, the ProjectDuplicator does not stop the runtime, when it copies the project. But there are different behaviours: If the runtime is running the "ArchiveManager" folder (Runtimedata) will not be copied. If the runtime is not running the "ArchiveManager" folder (Runtimedata) will be copied too. Regards Georg Berghof

Did U or someone else use many times this software and everything was Ok, i.e. WinCC RT never get stopped when copying the Project Folder. I should be sure for 99,99% that everything will go good if I use this software on running automation object.
