How to read SQL Database

jabbi_king Bronze Member Joined: 1/26/2014 Last visit: 8/16/2025 Posts: 164 Rating: (0)	I'm working with PCS7 V9.0 and SQL2014 Now, in WinCC, I archive Different tags in taglogging. Then, in WinCC Project, I see a database of the taglogging and the database of the wincc Project itself ( in type of SQL database : mdf, ldf). In SQL server 2014, I can attach the database and then open it in SQL to successfully find out the tag which I archive, however, When I open the table in SQL to see the data in this, It's dumb. I can't understand the information of the table in which the tag locates. So, Which Confuse me here are: exactly, where the archive tag locates in SQL database. Which type the tag is stored: the binary, decimal, real or integer ones. Please, help me.

bg2492 Posts: 7298 Rating: (2188)	Hello jabbi_king, the data in the Taglogging-Archive are stored in a compressed manner, as binary packages. You can not read out the data in a common way. You need to use the WinCC OLE DB Provider for uncompressing the data. The Application example: "Export of archive data using the SIMATIC WinCC/Connectivity Pack (OLE DB Provider)" https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/38132261 may help for understanding.
