Micromaster drives on profibus

practicalogical Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Hi, I need to connect around 70 Micromaster/Sinamics G120 drves on profibus with a S7 300 PLC. Will CPU 315-2DP be sufficient for this?Or do i need to upgrade to 317-2DP Or to S7 400 seies? Do I need to consider repeaters? Pls advice. Practicalogical

If I'm not wrong you can address up to 127 DP slaves with this CPU and you can have 32 slaves per one network segment, so basically you'll need 3 repeaters (or more if you have long distances).

I don't think that 315-2DP will do the job - to be profibus master for too many slaves (drives). My suggestion is to upgrade to 317... or S7-400 SPU. I had the same story. One 315 CPU with 10 drives, connected like slaves. Even using 3 repeaters, decrease the baud rate, with around 50 m distance between master and slave - I can't to see all slaves. Just I changed this 315 to 416 CPU (unplug profibus connector from 315 and connect to 416, change in hardware configuration type of CPU, even inctrease the baud rate and download this configuration) after that everything was OK. Hope this will helps. regards

CPU 315 is fully capable of 124 slaves addressing and with repeaters it must be no problems. Believe me I had some plants in uzbekistan where 314 was holding >35 MicroMaster without any problems. Somewhere I had table where it was showing how much slaves I can connect on one repeater if I have some distance between slaves. I mean if my max distance between slaves is 15 meter than I can connect x slaves on one repearer and so on, but I lost this table somewhere. So if you use so much slaves you must pay attention at speeds, distances, repeaters and terminators. Offcourse 3 repeater may be not sufficent here, but still its very very possible to do on 315 CPU (its even too much CPU ).

Of course, in each project, managers must make optimization and in this case 315 is first possible and "perfect" choice. . I just deceide to write here my bad expirience. regards
