At one of my customer site we are having Wincc V6.2+SP2 SCADA on Windows XP OS. Since support for Windows XP is discontinued from Microsoft ,customer planning  to replace the MS XP CPU with a brand-new CPU running WINDOWS 10 OS .i have queries regarding this conversion process.

1. Is Wincc V6.2+SP2 compatible with Windows 10.If not which version of wincc is compatible .
2. If a higher version of wincc is required do we need to new license for that specific version or can we use existing license of Wincc V6.2+SP2.
3. Is it possible to directly convert Wincc V6.2+SP2 project to project in higher version of wincc or do we need to take any intermediate step during the conversion process.

Regarding compatibility, please use the tool released by Siemens, filtering by operating system:

To carry out the migration from WinCC V6.2 to higher versions of WinCC, you will of course need an upgrade type license.

I would recommend you review the following application example, since you may have to go through intermediate versions until you reach the final software version.

If you are using an up-to-date Win10 OS then you should use also the latest Version of WinCC V7.5 SP2. Migrate to an older Version is not meaningful.

A WinCC V6.2 ist not compatible with Win10
