Hello SIOS Forum Community, in discussions with customers, the question often arises to what extent a migration from earlier SIMATIC panels (WinCC flexible / ProTool) to a newer generation (TIA Portal) is possible. The SIMATIC HMI operator interfaces migration guide Comfort Panels (or Basic Panels) contains important information in this regard (e.g. project planning aids, comparisons regarding display dimensions and resolution, housing dimensions, installation cut-outs, etc.). https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/49752044 https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/64790503 It is possible to separate a WinCC flexible project integrated in STEP 7 V5.x from the latter. Then the WinCC flexible project can be migrated separately. It is then possible to perform a device change to a SIMATIC panel of the new generation within the TIA Portal. Supporting information regarding a migration to the TIA Portal can be found in the following SIOS articles:

https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/56314851
https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/76878921 As of TIA Portal V15, older HMI operating devices are no longer supported. For this reason, a migration of older SIMATIC panels or a subsequent device change is only possible up to the corresponding previous version. A list of the unsupported devices/versions can be found in the following SIOS article.
https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/109754931 The TIA Portal Readiness Check Tool can be used to check whether hardware included in projects is supported by TIA Portal. https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/60162195 Example - ProTool migration In order to perform a ProTool migration from an OP7 to a KP400 Comfort, the corresponding OP7 ProTool project (pdb file from V5.2), the software WinCC flexible 2008 SP2 and at least the software WinCC Comfort within the TIA Portal (up to V13 SP1 / SP2 or V14 SP1) are required. ProTool projects can be migrated to WinCC flexible up to version 2008 SP2. Since the OP7 HMI is not supported by WinCC flexible, a HMI change to the OP 77B must be carried out during migration. Subsequently, a migration to the KP400 Comfort can be carried out within the TIA Portal (as described in the links above). https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/18796902 Alternatively, the migration offer HMI Upgrade Package from Siemens can be used to facilitate the step-by-step migration of the old components in existing plants. This service can also be used if the original engineering project no longer exists. https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/109740105 https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/sc/4747 https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/109765132 The status changes of the SIMATIC HMI products can be viewed at the following link. https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/109486162 Best regards SIMATIC International Technical Support Hub |
