Hello all, 

A customer of mine who predominantly uses Rockwell HW/SW still has some Siemens equipment on site. 

The equipment used to consist of legacy S7-300 PLCs and WinCC Flex panels. 

Recently the OEM went and upgraded the WinCC Flex panels with TP1200/TP700 Comfort Panels and migrated the WinCC Flex 2008 projects to TIA Portal V16. 

The question I have is which version of TIA Portal my customer needs to open/modify these projects without the need to upgrade them and the HMIs? 

His supplier of Siemens HW/SW has sent a quote for TIA V17 WinCC but I am thinking one would have to upgrade the projects to V17 first and be able to edit. 

And if changes need to be downloaded to the HMIs, they will also will need to be upgraded to V17. 

Isn't there an option to buy V16 still? 

The region where we are based is UK.

Hi vaniou,

V16 should still active on the market and if they don't want V17, they should be able to order the older version.

In any case, the V17 license is valid for earlier versions ofTIA Portal.

They could download the trial version V16, through this link, and when the trial period ends (21 days), continue using the software with the V17 license they got.
