We are working with a server pair using V7.5 + SP1 + HF3.

We had to reload both servers due to problems when trying to open Redundancy. The editor could not open.

After reloading Server 1 we reset the alarm logging and started successfully. Clients were then changed to new server.

After reloading Server 2 we also reset alarm logging, and after starting, the server gets to:

Activating...-> Alarm Logging Runtime (42%) -> Initializing server replication....(73%)

Not sure what is actually happening in the background, but there is very little network activity, 3% CPU and nearly no hard drive activity.  Which looks like nothing is happening.

Have left it now for over an hour. I will leave it to continue doing nothing and check later.

Is there any suggestions on how to proceed? Or what does "Initializing server replication" actually mean or what should it do or what can we check?

This must be the most frustrating portion of WinCC. Starting of a project really doesn't give you many clues as to what or if something is really happening. And redundancy is a black hole. No way to diagnose it properly. A diagnostics dashboard would be of great help.

you can try to look in the WinCC diagnose folder and look if you can find some noticable errors or hints.

If you need help then you can also open a Service Request in Siemens Support.

Check also if the Servers see each other in the Simatic Shell.
