I have a new 1243-7 and I've tried 2 different SIM cards in it. I've not gotten it past the solid red NETWORK LED, and also the flashing red DIAG LED. The manual states that this means there is no SIM card but it would not be possible for the SIM card to be inserted any way differently than I've done.

What is the diagnostics buffer of the module say, when you are online to it with TIA Portal?

 The only item listed as an ERROR in Diagnostics/Diagnostic Status/Device-specific events/ is an Error stating 'Module: TPAI Invalid telecontrol configuration.   (This is to be expected as that checkbox is unchecked in the configuration for types of communication desired with there not being any Telecontrol server or use.) (I only have SMTP, SMS, and S7 communication check boxed ticked.)

All other aspects of the Diagnostics section appear as I would expect. ie. The Mobile wireless interfaces states 'Mobile wireless interface is not responding. Network status: Not connected, etc.

I had the same problem with two CP 1243-7 modules. I sent them to my local Siemens Service Repair and both modules were replaced.

The cause of the failure was the defective SIM socket (probably from a defective batch).

I got exactly the same problem : DIAG flashing red and NETWORK still lighing red. 

On the diagnostic, I have the same problem (in Diagnostic < diagnostic status) : Warn configuration where it's write : "invalid telecontrol configuration". 

And on the configuration, I activated the "inline functions" and "S7 communications" and GPR, UMTS and LTE.

So did you find a solution or did you simply replaced the 4G modules ?
