as u can see, basically the HMIs are meet requirements, either KTP (basic HMI) and TP (comfort panel). In my experience I'd say basic HMI reasonably priced while Comfort which has more features. here's for the comfort panel SIMATIC HMI Comfort panels | SIMATIC HMI Panels | Siemens Global |

But what are the additional functions that the TP can offer that the KTPs do not have other than the cost?

Hello It depends on which use case you have. A Basic Panel is the low end of the HMI Panels. It has a lot of limitations compared to a Comfort Panel. Have a look, here are the system limits of both panel types . You can easily see which huge differences are in functionality and performance. https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/109798671/135701931147 So I would use a Basic Panel only for very simple hmi applications (thats what they are made for).
