Hi,

I have a 1513-1 PLC that's on TIA v15_1, and I have a HMI KTP1200 Basic that's on TIA v17.

I want to be available to communicate between the 2 projekts that I have.

I know that you can have a PLC in the projekt that the HMI is on, and communicate through that PLC. But I don't want to do it that way if it's possible.

So I'm wondering if it's possible to communicate between HMI panel that's in one project and a PLC that's in another projekt.

I believe that you need to add the Device proxy and follow the documentation below:

Combined configuration with WinCC (TIA Portal) and STEP 7 V5.x or Combined configuration with WinCC (TIA Portal) and STEP 7 (TIA Portel) in separate projects (Video)

If not, you can always update the PLC project to TIA V17 and unify PLC and HMI in the same project.

 I can't get it to work between TIA V17 and TIA V15_1. Do you know if it is possible?

If you are using absolute addsessing, it does not matter that the HMI project is separate from Step 7 project.

It has been pretty common to do an upgrade to a project created with step7 5.x and do HMI with TIA and leave PLC program as it is. That has also changed, since no customer will accept S-300 PLC anymore.

Like mentioned you can use device proxy if you like to get the tags to HMI, but that is not necessary. It is only S7 communication between HMI and PLC, only thing you need is address from plc.

With symbolic access, I think best way is to combine projects. Because you are using S7-1500 plc, I would assume there are symbolic access involved.
