Communication with ABB PLC ( AC800 )

lamhuynhthanh Posts: 9 Rating: (0)	Dear expert, In our project to extend the existing control system ( ABB PLC ), we offer the WinCC and S7 300 to replace ABB system, but the customer want to remain ABB PLCfor existing system,only the extension is Siemens ( S7 300 and WinCC ), and they request to Communicate between S7 300, WinCC and ABB PLC ( AC800 CPU ). My question is :HOW canWinCC SCADAgets the data from ABB PLC and S7 300 CPU in the same system.Do we need any tool beside SIMATIC Step7. Please help ! Thank you in advance. Huynh Thanh Lam.

Liftaren Posts: 21 Rating: (2)	The most easy way, if you can program the ABB system, is to install a Profibus communication card in it. I don't think WinCC can speak COMLI (but I haven't checked).

automatinglego Posts: 14 Rating: (0)	hi i tried commutication between wincc and ac800 by using abb opc server and it worked. There was no problem. İ also triedcommnication between siemens plc and abb plc by using profibus and it worked.siemens was a slave,abb wasthe master.

ChessMaster Posts: 84 Rating: (1)	Hi We had the same problem but not ABB plc we had Toshiba PLC and we connected it to the WINCC via OPC server. Take a look ate the Kepware site and search for Top server, These are to OPC server that they support many PLC. This software is King of OPC server. You should download demo version of it, the difference between demo version and full version is in demo version after 2 hours it will be disconnected and you must start over OPC again. I found some help file to connect WINCC to Topserver. I check my Topserver it contains all type of ABB PLCs. You know if you use OPC server maybe the connection with PLC be slow as we encounter the problem but we solved it. So if you try to use OPC and i am ready to help you. Good Luck
