First of all what kind is that Tag? it is a S7 String in a PLC DB? or is it a internal Text/String Tag?

If its a S7 String you just can write "" in it and the communication driver will set the first two bytes in the DB to the correct length, (MAximum Length of the String and current length of the string)

-> the current length of the sting in the DB will then be 0 and this is a defined as empty string in PLC (it does not matter if there are any characters in the following bytes...)

In C Script you have to work with a terminated String \0 but in VB you just can work with ""
