Hello, I would like to ask for possibilities about getting "realtime data" for Historian (OSI PI). There are several line of control systems: PLC (CPU 317 PN/DP), devices on Profibus, WinCC etc.. Scheme of actual state included. The task is to implement OPC Kepserver to get data from the control system and to transfer it to Historian. We cannot go directly to the existing network (security reasons) but we have to make separate network to be able to read data to OPC. Possibilities: 1) We wanted to use MPI/Ethernet adapter, but profibus is occupied: Ethernet adapter ACCON NetLink PRO Compact for Simatic S7-200/-300/-400 | FOXON 2) We can buy Ethernet CP (Standard, Lean or Advance) netword card and read OPC data from it. 3) We can buy Profibus CP (Move profibus to it) and use internal MPI/DP with Ethernet adapter ACCON NetLink PRO Compact for Simatic S7-200/-300/-400 | FOXON If there are no security limitations, is possible to read the data from PLC via OPC DA directly from Kepserver and also WinnCC read the data ? What are the limitations of OPC connection (is OPC DA always ready to use in PLC with integrated PN interface) ? Is OPC DA ready to use with additional Ethernet CP card ? Thank you for answers. |

Hello Georgio The Classic PLCs do not support OPC directly on the PLC itself, so you would need always a S7 communication to get access from the OPC Server to the PLC items/DBs. for example here https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/67295801 one of the main defferences of the CPs are the comunication ressources and the poosible parallel connections. the Lean is the weakest and should be used only for a small amount of connections. (the differences you should see in the technical data of the CPs) Bye Murof |
