Dear Experts,

We have a VAT valve (attached the manual of the valve) and we want to communicate with a S7-1500 CPU. The issue is that there is no GSD file and the communication should be done through an Ethernet port. This interface enables remote operation using a command set based on RS232 commands tunneling through Ethernet.I have the complete set of the instructions that they should be transmitted. I have used on TIA Portal v16 the built in command TSEND_C. I have create a new connection and I have placed the IP of the valve on the DB that was created. I am sending a command which is of type String and it looks like p:0B0F10010000. The reason for sending such a thing is because I tried on the command line of the VAT software the command with the exact format and it worked. My questions to you are :

1) Am I correct on using the TSEND_C command?

2) The format on PLC side String is right? On the manual I didn't find something specific about this. Also I tried other types of data but they were not accepted by the compiler of TIA Portal.

Are you sending the STRING datatype as is? That is a problem if you do. Consult the in-software help on how a STRING datatype is constructed.

Convert the STRING to an ARRAY OF CHAR. Than also send only the characters that make up the message. Consult the LEN() of the string to know how many.

Also check if an new line or line feed character should be at the end of the message.
