Do any of you have suggestions for establishing communication between the S7-400H and WinCC Explorer? I've attempted using named connections and TCP/IP, but without success.

I'm working with a DELL POWEREDGE R440 SERVER where WinCC Explorer is installed. I'm unsure whether I need a CP card or not. Any advice or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

You can do this all by hand, without named connections or integrating WinCC into your Plc project, when you are using a TCP/IP connection.

Just add a connection to the first CPU unter Simatic S7 protocol suite, TCP/IP.

Then open the Graphics Designer: Make sure you have activated under View -> Toolbars -> Dynamic Wizard. In the Dynamic Wizard window inside "System Functions" you find the entry "Create redundant connection". Open this wizard, it adds some variables and a script for you, which switches the connection to the other CPU if one isn't available.
