I did this in one of our last projects. its quite easy.

The idea is a little bit different from the VB example.

HMIRuntime.Tags("USBx61").Write(1);
HMIRuntime.FileSystem.DeleteDirectory("/media/simatic/X61/Test").then(
function() {
HMIRuntime.Trace("Directory successfully deleted");
});
})

.catch(function(errorCode) {
HMIRuntime.Tags("USBx61").Write(0);

});

If you run this Script cyclic in the scheduled taks  then you will have the current availability of a specific USB Device.

The delay depends on the cycle of the job and +- a few seconds for the mounting/dismounting action of the panel
