UNable to install SQL Server 2005

Atemp Posts: 41 Rating: (1)	Hi, My computer system: HPcomputer, windowsXPPro SP2 .I am unable to install the SQL Server 2005. It gives me this error "Theupgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows intaller service becuase the program to be updated may be missing, or the update patch may update a diffirent version of the program. Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch." What do I need to do to install the SQL Server 2005... Please help. Thank you.

Have you updated Windows XP Pro SP2 before installing SQL Server 2005? If you installing for WinCC Database. Please make sure you are SQL Server 2005(WinCC) installation CD that has been supplied with WinCC Software Package. regards, rit03

Atemp Posts: 41 Rating: (1)	Hello, Yes this is a new HP PC. As far as I can remember, When I tried to shutdown the PC, it did it's "installing automatic update" for couple minutes then it shuts down after if completed update. I did used the SQL 2005 that came with the WinCC software... Help.

I'm a lil confused, are you trying to install MSQL2005 or MSQL2005 patch on WinCC tools CD ? can you report exactly operation you did to install it?..please anyway, you need update your system with all "WinCC tools CD" update and patch (but not MSQL patch", then it's possible install MSQL 2005 and apply the patch from "WinCC Tools CD" Regards
