WinCC Runtime Simulation to physical PLC connection not working

MattTRogers Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Good Morning, I am having issues connecting WinCC Runtime professional to an ET200SP PLC (CPU 1512SP F-1 PN) using V17 Update 1 of the TIA Portal (STEP7 Professional/ WinCC Professional). I'm using a Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 running Window 10 Pro (21H1), with a Microsoft Surface Adaptor (usb to ethernet) to connect to the PLC. Trawling through the internet, I was able to find instructions pointing towards making sure to use S7ONLINE (By default it was using CP-TCPIP) and to ensure that the PG/PC Interface was set to use the appropriate ethernet adaptor, but no luck. I have been able to establish communication between PLCsim simulation of the PLC project and the Runtime simulation, but not between the Runtime simulation and the physical PLC. Could anyone point me towards documentation specifically dealing with Runtime simulation and connection to a physical PLC? Any help greatly appreciated. Attachment Runtime.PNG (864 Downloads)

Hi ChristophD, The USB Ethernet Adaptor is attached to a Microsoft Surface Dock, the Surface dock contains .2 with the connection used for my companies LAN. .3 is the adaptor I'm using to connect and download programs to the PLC. Out of desperation I've also tried the Surface Ethernet Adapter.TCPIP.Auto.3, but the issue remains. Attachment Surface Ethernet Adapter Properties.PNG (951 Downloads)

czpav Member Joined: 11/29/2012 Last visit: 8/8/2025 Posts: 1 Rating: (0)	hi programmers, I'm reviving the thread WinCC Runtime Simulator does not communicate with HW PLC - I have one working project that on an old NTBK (TIA 15.1 installation) connects the WinCC simulator to the PLC and displays the current values. The new NTBK (with the installation of TIA 15.1 and TIA 17) does not display values from the PLC when starting the same project (only ###). I reinstalled the complete TIA17 installation, but no change. Does anyone have experience?? Idea??Solution?? Thank you for all the information Ludek

Check the settings in the PG/PC interface of the engineering system under "Start > Control Panel > All Control Elements > Set PG/PC Interface" ("Start > Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Set PG/PC Interface").
