hi All

I have a server running wincc profesional V18 and 2 clients pc which run fine.

I am not able to start graphics runtime on the server for some bizzare reason - i keep getting a popup that the start graphics has to be selected but i am not able to do actual selection. Also the start picture has already been selected. 

I tried the following so far:

1. wiped folder on the server and re-downloaded whole project from the engineering station
2. removed IM folder in the engineering project and recompiled redownloaded again

Has anybody seen something similar?

Hi hewking103,

I have seen this type of error in other cases due to domain problems, in which the connection is being blocked and therefore, it cannot find the address/path to display the project.

What I recommend is that you check that both on the server and on the client you have logged in with the same user.

Also tell you that domains often cause issues because the permission settings are controlled by a different PC (domain controller), check that you have permissions and if it also happens locally.

The server i have problem with is still on the shoploor with 2 clients running perfectly fine.

It is not under domain yet - but eventually will be.

So the server runs normal providing data for 2 cliens but its not capable of launching its own graphics runtime...

Would you suggest anything else to check please?

Any logging area worth checking maybe?

I have been searching for aditional information and I have found the next FAQ:

"Why do you get the message "Start picture not found" on the client although it has been configured?"

I don't really know if this link could be helpful if you start again having the same problem.

That could be supper helpful - thanks a lot!

Reinstalling wincc is a last resort - ideally i would prefer to fix only what is needed. 

We all have challenges but this forum does make a difference and helps :)
