Hello, I have attached the layout. I think my statement confused both of you. I will correct it. I have a query regarding the connection of 8 units (7units + 1 spare) each equipped with an ET200SP PLC with IO. These ET200SP PLCs are connected to an S71515 F PLC, which serves as the master. Operating on Profinet protocol. I have a application, where a machine has 7 units to handle 7 different fluids. The units with ET200SP IM PLC will be connected to these 7 units to handle these fluids. These 7 IM PLC units can be placed anywhere in any units. So, My question is, how my S71515F PLC understands which ET200SP IM PLC unit is connected in which fluid handeling unit? How my S71515F PLC know ET200SP PLC Unit is connected to 6th fluid handeling units lets say? Like wise. Regards, AttachmentLayout.pdf (452 Downloads) |

Hi automationguy123, Your ET 200SP devices are PROFINET IO devices. Therefore, you have to parameterize these devices in the TIA Portal. There, each device is assigned a device name that must be unique within the subnet you are using. The PLC as PROFINET IO controller will communicate with the devices based on their device name. Therefore, you can either assign the name to the device using TIA Portal (or any other software that supports this), or you can configure a topology that allows an automatic assignment according to the network port interconnection. The second method makes it easier to replace the device, especially if you allow the controller to override the device name. Kind regards |
