I HAVE A HMI OF KTP600 WITH SERIAL PORT AND NOW I WANT TO COMMUNICATE A HMI WITH COMMUNICATION MODULE 1241 CAN SOMEONE PLS TELL ME THE COMMUNICATION DIAGRAM B/W HMI SERIAL PORT TO COMM.MODULE RS422/485. Very sorry for having to be the guy with bad news.. The KTP600 you have is for communicating via MPI or Profibus protocols. The communication module you have does not speak MPI or Profibus.. unless you wish to code the protocols from scratch. I would strongly recommend you get the the KTP600 PN (Profinet) that "speaks" natively to the PLC without any need of a communication card. If you had more devices speaking to the Profinet ports, you can add a network switch.. it will not be a problem. Alternatively replace the communication card with one that handles Profobus natively over the RS485 link. Could someone else please confirm that it should be a Profibus master card: 6GK7 243-5DX30-0XE0? Good luck. w

I really feel for you on this problem. What you are asking is difficult to do without spending even more money. I have no solution for you, but I will try to give ideas. Your HMI unit is the KTP600 DP (right?). The KTP600 DP can be set to communicate with other PLCs. These other PLCs includes S7-300/400 and S7-200 on the Siemens range. It also includes other makes (see "connections" under the HMI project - create a link). Included also is Modicon Modbus RTU. I suggest to set the KTP600 to talk in (Modicon) Modbus protocol. On the PLC side you have blocks available to make the communication card speak Modbus. You will have to come up with a list of questions to various experts to make it work. It is non-standard and will take much effort.. but it has a 55% chance to work. Bounce this idea off the experts at the Communication forum. Ask specific questions on how Modbus can be done between the entities and try to find out what makes "Modicon" Modbus different than S7-1200's Modicon. From TIA/WinCC experts get tips on how to handle the communication from KTP600 to a non-siemens PLC.. or even more specific a Modbus device. The knowledge of using Modbus communication on the S7-1200 is very well documented. Further questions you should ask to TIA/Step7 experts. My generalistic knowledge is not deep enough to pull you through this hole - this all I have to give. I know that the consequences will be severe for you.. but see if your local Siemens agent can help with swapping out the DP model HMI for PN. The RnD time spent on getting an alternative can make things worse for you in the end. I am hoping for a positive outcome for you. w
