We are trying to go online to monitor/fault find on an S7-300 programmed with TIA Portal V15. I can compare the software and determine their are no differences. When I go to try and monitor the software, the icon is greyed out. The copy of the software is from the OEM and even when I try and upload a copy from the PLC I get the same fault. Alhtough i can upload The file name ends @@@@@920.zap15 which leads me to using V15. I have tried each update pack and now have the latest update software although i am getting the same outcome. Any ideas or advice appreciated?

0_Einstein Grandmaster-Expert Joined: 7/7/2010 Last visit: 1/16/2026 Posts: 16379 Rating: (2522)	Unfortunately, all "groups" of blocks are only stored in the portal project and not the PLC. The PLC just has a list of blocks without any organization like you might see in original portal projects. This is the same behavior for S7-300/400 and S7-1200/1500, so you are not alone. Again, it is because the PLC just has all the blocks in one large group and no other organization, so it cannot reconstruct it during the upload. Perhaps Siemens may adjust the PLC firmware and Portal in the future. If you absolutely must have that, by all means submit a "Support Request" and let them know. Us forum users have very little swap in the future of TIA Portal and firmware revisions, at least not that I have noticed. The best we forum users can do is come here with problems which Siemens (maybe their support group) periodically captures and generates FAQs and perhaps custom applications, libraries, documentation clarifications and things like that. If Siemens Portal developers listened to forum users at all, Portal would have had Dark Mode over a decade ago! For now, the developers of Tia Portal are lost in a quantum loop that has merged Tia 19 with Tia 17 among themselves, and the TIA updater program proposes mixed updates of the two releases that then turn out to be impossible in practice. Sooner or later we may get to see wave/particle duality in Tia as well.

There was a Danfoss Drive in the program which was not linked to the Network. Once I corrected that I still couldn't get online with the FC's etc. I did a Full Software upload which turned everything green as per the photo's. Once I did a compare , certain blocks turned orange/blue to show differences. After a compare which informed me there were no software differences in the compare - only time stamp. I redownloaded the blocks that i'd just uploaded. Only after that was I allowed to go online and monitor. Whilst monitoring I had a different block from the one i was monitoring change from ok to show differences. Again I did a compare and it showed nothing wrong, so i redownloaded that block at it allowed me to go back online. It looks like S7-300's with Portal are just very sensitive.
